What makes UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus such a good choice?
UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus gives you the freedom to see any physician or other healthcare provider within the network. The UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus network includes over 300,000 physician and specialists. You receive excellent benefits when you see a network provider, usually having to only pay a small co-payment per visit. However, with UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus, you also have the choice to see a physician that is outside the network. Your benefits will be reduced somewhat, so you may have a higher co-payment, and/or maybe will need to meet a deductible first. However, you have choices, which is very important. UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus is one of the only types of plans that allow for that kind of freedom. HMO, health maintenance organization, plans usually to not have any benefits for out of network doctors' visits. UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus provides some coverage and benefits when you see an out of network doctor.
UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plans do not require primary care physicians to be designated. UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plans also do not require referrals to see other specialists or doctors. Many UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plans have mental health benefits, so you can see a licensed counselor or psychologist to help you with any emotional needs you may have. If you were required to get a referral, you would have to discuss very sensitive emotional subjects with additional doctors. With a UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plan, you can set up your own appointment directly with the mental health professional of your choice, and guard your privacy. Remember that you do have the option to see a mental health professional out of network if you prefer, but at a higher rate.
UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plan members have access to all of the physicians and providers in the UnitedHealthcare national network. UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plan members also can call the 1-800 phone line and speak to a nurse 24 hours a day. UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plans include benefits for hospital stays, whether inpatient or outpatient. UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plans also include prenatal care, maternity benefits, and vision and hearing screenings.
Summary: UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus plans are the most liberal with their benefits.
